Summer Skincare Tips
Summer is all about fun in the sun, but before you step outside, make sure your skin is prepared for it! UV ray exposure from the sun can do some real damage to your body while you're out and about. Consider these tips to make sure your skin stays healthy and happy during the brightest and hottest season of the year:
Use sunscreen! One ounce of sunscreen (about the size of a shot glass) should be used to cover the arms, legs, neck and face of the average adult. The American Cancer Society recommends that you reapply sunscreen every two hours to maintain protection from the sun. Many lip balms have SPF now too, so don't forget to apply protect your lips!
Wear a hat! People tend to forget that the sun's rays still hit the top of your head, even through your hair. Protect your scalp and face with the help of a hat.
Stay hydrated! Water helps your blood pump effectively, helps energize your muscles and prevents cramping. Because the summer heat makes you sweat a lot more than usual, make sure you're replacing all that liquid by drinking around 5 fluid ounces of water -- around four to eight sips -- every hour.
Rock some shades! UV rays hit every part of your body, including your eyes, so hide them behind some stylish sunglasses. When you're choosing a pair of shades, make sure their label says that they have UV protection. Keep in mind that darker glasses don't always mean better UV protection!
If you've forgotten to take these preventive steps, don't worry! There are many restorative processes that will bring your skin back to life. Since the sun dehydrates and exhausts your skin into wrinkles, fillers such as Botox and Restylane can help reduce wrinkle marks. We offer both of these treatments in our clinic, so if you're looking to restore sun-damaged skin, come in for a consultation!
